Mykonos Travel Guide: Where To Stay, Eat And Go
Mykonos is one of the most popular Greek islands, and for good reason.
There is a certain magic to the place, a lively feeling that makes you want to stay longer.
I spent 12 days exploring the island, and although it is small, every minute was fun and exciting. Summer in Mykonos is best enjoyed unwinding for a while, so we have focused this guide on leisure activities and luxe resorts where you can forget about work for a weekend. If you still need to work (the perks of being a digital nomad), the resorts have amazing wifi. Whether you are looking for a place to relax, go for a memorable swim, or dance the night away, there is something for everyone in Mykonos.
Best Hotels In Mykonos
Rocabella
A boutique hotel is located in a peaceful part of the island, and only a short shuttle ride away from Mykonos town. Rocabella is near the beautiful St. Stefanos Beach, and has all the amenities you need for a perfect stay. I stayed here for 2 nights when we first arrived in Mykonos, and it was my favorite place overall. Apart from the gorgeous pool, beautiful Greek-style rooms, award-winning breakfast, and amazing restaurant, this hotel also offers something most don’t – a personal experience. The owner, Roy, and hotel manager, Alan, go above and beyond to make sure each and every guest has the best experience possible. You are sure to have the best experience here for your summer in Mykonos.
Cavo Tagoo
Cavo Tagoo is the #1 luxury hotel on the island. It is absolutely stunning, and is located right by Mykonos town. It features gorgeous suites, a spa, restaurant, gym, and the most incredible infinity pool overlooking the Aegean Sea. I stayed in a two bedroom villa which was spacious and beautifully decorated. It features a private patio with its very own infinity pool overlooking the ocean. The hotel faces the sunset side of the island, so you can watch the sunset directly from your private pool with wine. You can also end the night in the in-room hot tub. If you’re looking for a luxurious experience for your summer in Mykonos, then Cavo Tagoo is your place.
Kivotos
Kivotos is the place to stay in Mykonos if you want a luxurious getaway that includes access to a private beach. This resort features all of the usual resort amenities, but my favorite part was their gorgeous beach. It has lounge chairs, umbrellas, and calm clear water perfect for swimming. The rooms are also impressive. We stayed in their presidential suite which had an awesome hot tub and infinity pool. If your ideal summer in Mykonos involves lots of swimming in the sea, then Kivotos is perfect for you.
O lofos
O lofos is a boutique hotel that feels more like a home. It is located right by Rocabella, and features only 3 villas, making this a perfect hideaway. This is your place if your ideal summer in Mykonos involves absolute relaxation and privacy. The owner, Christine, makes sure you have everything you need for a pleasant stay, and is just a call away for any requests. Each villa feels like home and features a kitchenette and private pool. It’s more like a home-away-from-home, and also ideal if you need to get some work done during your trip.

Things To Do In Mykonos
Mykonos Town
Mykonos Town is the main town on the island, and what you’ve likely seen in photos. The town is incredibly picturesque with white buildings, ocean views, and maze-like streets. Mykonos town is where you go for some of the best restaurants on the island, great shopping, and sunset views. The most popular spot to watch the sunset is from Little Venice. Try grabbing a table at one of the sea-side restaurants on Little Venice for the best sunset experience. This is sure to make your summer in Mykonos highly memorable.
Paraga Beach
A sandy beach with the clearest, and most calm water we found on the island. There are several restaurants and beach bars to choose from at Paraga Beach. They offer good food, and also rent lounge chairs and umbrellas. Once the sun sets, you can head over to one of the many bars to keep the party going. One of the most popular spots on the island is located here – Scorpios, now part of Soho House. This is a beach bar and nightclub with beautiful bohemian decor. My absolute favorite spot on the island.
Paradise & Super Paradise Beach
If you’re looking to party, these two beaches are where you need to be. Paradise & Super Paradise Beach really are a party person’s paradise. There are bars lining the beaches that turn into nightclubs at night. You can find something going on at any time of the day, but the real party begins after sunset.

Best Places To Eat In Mykonos
Bill and Coo
Bill and Coo is a boutique hotel that has a restaurant located right next to its infinity pool. This place is best for fine-dining and great to catch the sunset. I came here for sunset one evening and it was the best I saw on the island (aside from the sunset we witnessed from our private pool at Cavo Tagoo). The food and service are as amazing as the view, and you can’t go wrong ordering anything on the menu.
Boukitsa
Boukitsa is a whole-in-the-wall creperie in Mykonos town. It is located on the street next to the restaurant Niko’s and sells the most amazing crepes. You choose your toppings, and the crepe is made freshly for you. For a Greek flare get roasted chicken with sun-dried tomatoes, feta cheese, and olive paste. The combination is amazing!
Reeza
Reeza is Rocabella’s own restaurant. It is located poolside inside the hotel and is beautifully decorated to match the rest of the hotel. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. I recommend trying their version of pastitsio and a piña colada. So good you’ll want to spend your whole summer in Mykonos here!
Kostas
Also located in Mykonos town, this traditional Greek restaurant will be sure to delight. Kostas offers a variety of items on the menu – Greek cuisine, like my favorites Pastitsio and Mousaka, Italian pastas, seafood, and grilled fish and meats. The restaurant is always busy, and every plate looks amazing! I had the Pastitsio and it is the best I’ve tried!
