My visit to Venice was short, but definitely sweet. Although I only spent a total of 48 hours in Venice, it has become one of my favorite places in the world and a place we plan to return to (for longer) for my next visit to Italy. Venice is absolutely magical and worth all the hype. I mean, it’s an entire city that moves either walking or through water canals, what’s not to love?!

I have become notorious for walking everywhere and traveling has made me appreciate places with water that much more. Any place that has ocean either by it or flowing through it wins my heart immediately. Apart from this, the buildings in Venice are adorable and the food is incredible. I tried some of the best food in Italy while in Venice, so make sure you don’t overlook this while taking in the magnificent scenery. If you are a seafood lover you will love Venetian food. If you are a pasta lover, like me, you’ll dream of the food you try in Venice for the rest of your life.

Try these 2 amazing restaurants in Venice:

Bistrot de Venise

Located in San Marco this place is much more than just a fine-dining restaurant. Bistrot de Venise merges traditional Venetian cuisine and history with modern Italian dishes. Here you can expect to try many different flavors, from seafood to some delicious pastas, and many fine Italian wines. Every plate is sure to delight.

I tried a degustation menu which sampled a little bit of everything. My favorites were the raviolis, black squid ink pasta, Cod fillet, and the roasted duck. I, unfortunately, didn’t try the tiramisu, but heard from the couple next to me that it is amazing, so try it and let me know if you agree. Apart from being a restaurant, Bistrot de Venise also organizes weekly events for locals and visitors alike focused on keeping Venetian culture alive. Bistrot de Venise is the perfect blend of Italian gastronomy, wine, art and culture. You can also buy their wines and olive oils and take them home with you.

Al Giardinetto da Severino

This is the best hidden treasure in Venice. Al Giardinetto da Severino is located near the famous Bridge of Sighs just off a side alley. The restaurant itself is gorgeous and has a beautiful terrace lined with grape vines that makes for the best al fresco dining. To start I had the Caprese salad and mussels/clams in a lemon butter sauce. Then followed with some pasta bolognese and carbonara (I had a friend with me, thankfully!) which were both insanely delicious! Our mains were sea bass and filet mignon. I highly recommend their filet mignon if you’re a meat-lover, it was to die for. To finish off our amazing lunch we had a cup of tea each. Al Giardinetto da Severino is a MUST VISIT! The overall ambience, service, setting, and food are all incredible and this dining experience has been one of my all around favorites.
